2018 Jeep Cherokee at Browning Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram

The mid-size SUV class continues to be reimagined with the Jeep Cherokee. While continuing to improve, the 2018 Cherokee maintains the charm that keeps bringing us all back for more. For the 2018 model, Jeep has moved around the trim levels, as well as added Latitude as the base trim while not forgetting the ever important premium features like fog lamps, rear backup camera, roof rails, and 17-inch aluminum wheels. With a new base level, Jeep has not forgotten to give even more options to upgrade existing trims such as the Latitude Plus. This trim builds on the base layer to give you a leather steering wheel that can control the audio, SiriusXM Radio, mood lighting, and a keyless function to make getting in and going that much easier. The Trailhawk, another trim level, has been given newer standard features which make the already safe vehicle that much safer with Blind-spot Monitoring, ParkSense Rear Backup Warning, and Cross Path Detection. Not to be left out, the Limited was given upgrades as well, adding the bonus option of a power liftgate. What kind of engines are available for the 2018 Cherokee?

The 2018 Jeep Cherokee has the option of two different engines. The first is the standard 2.4-liter Tigershark 4-cylinder engine which makes 184 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque. The gas mileage on the engine varies depending on whether the model is FWD or 4WD, whether Active Drive I or II mode is on, or if it is the 4WD Trailhawk. FWD in the city is 21 mpg, FWD on the highway is 30 mpg. The 4WD Active Drive II city brings it to 21 mpg, while the highway gives you 27 mpg. The 4WD Active Drive I 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. Lastly, the 4WD Trailhawk city driving is 19 mpg, with the highway being 25 mpg. The second engine, being standard on the Overland 4x4, is optional on all of the other trim models. This engine is the the 3.2-liter V6, and creates 271 horsepower and 239 pound-feet of torque. The fuel economy of this engine depends on the same factors as the first engine. FWD in the city is 21 mpg, and on the highway is 29 mpg. In the 4WD Active Drive I city the miles per gallon is 20, and on the highway it becomes 27 mpg. 4WD Active Drive II brings the city mpg to 18, and the highway to 26 mpg. The last driving mode for the engine is the 4WD Trailhawk, which puts out 18 mpg in the city, and 24 mpg on the highway. The standard transmission for both engines is the nine-speed automatic transmission, which comes in FWD and 4WD. The 4WD offers three different options, Jeep Active Drive I being the base system, offering a single-speed transfer case. Active Drive II instead offers a 2-speed transfer case. The final driving mode can only be used with the Trailhawk, and adds the Selec-Terrain system. Both engines have towing capabilities, with the 4-cylinder engine towing up to 2,000 pounds, and the V6 engine towing up to 4,5000 pounds.

What trim level options are available on the 2018 Cherokee?

The 2018 Jeep Cherokee, while having an amazing base level trim called the Latitude, also has four other trim options called Latitude Plus, Limited, Trailhawk, and Overland. Latitude comes with a front passenger seat that can fold to create more storage, front seats that can be adjusted for height, a rearview camera, Bluetooth, rear seats that can slide and recline with 60/40-split folding seatbacks, a six-speaker audio system with a 5-inch touch screen, and a USB port. The next trim level is the Latitude Plus, which adds onto everything included in the Latitude, and adds mood lighting in the interior, a 8.4-inch Uconnect information and entertainment system, easy ignition and entry with no keys necessary, leather inserts, a power driver seat,115-volt outlet, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Trailhawk is the perfect trim level if you ever enjoy off-roading. It comes standard with more clearance from the ground, unique trim on the exterior, all-wheel drive, skid plates, both cloth and leather upholstery, the same large touchscreen interface as the Latitude Plus, and bigger all-terrain tires. With off-roading comes the fear of safety, but there are plenty of options offered here to make sure that safety is never a concern. Some of those features include blind-spot monitoring, sensors for parking, automatic climate control in dual-zones, and rear cross-traffic detection. The next trim level is the Cherokee Limited, and while it has some similarities to the Trailhawk, it adds a de-icer for the wiper, leather upholstery, a power liftgate, heated seats for the front two passengers, heated steering wheel, parking sensors, an additional remote ignition, and blind-spot monitoring. Last but certainly not least is the Overland, with features including a windshield as well as front windows that are sound-deadening, a nine-speaker audio system, exterior trim that has a unique body-color, an instrument panel surrounded in leather, ventilated front seats, memory functions for the driver's seat, and of course, a radio and navigation system. After you have finally picked out your trim, I am sure you are wondering what storage is like in the 2018 Cherokee. Well, with rear seats being able to fold, there is around 54.9 cubic feet of cargo space in the back of the Jeep. That does not even include the space created in Latitude Plus trims and higher when the passenger seat has the ability to be folded down as well. For more personalization, consider the exterior colors of the car. There are twelve different exterior colors, such as Light Brownstone Pearl Coat, Billet, Silver Metallic Clear Coat, Patriot Blue Pearl Coat, Rhino Clear Coat, Diamond Black Pearl Coat, Hydro Blue Pearl Coat, Pearl White Pearl Coat,Firecracker Red Clear Coat, Olive Green Clear Coat, Bright White Clear Coat, and Velvet Red Pearl Coat.
